Gibson Dealer Select Hummingbird Original Torrefied Red Spruce Acoustic-Electric Guitar - Heritage Cherry Sunburst

Built for players who crave the warmth and immediacy of a well-loved heirloom instrument, the Gibson Dealer Select Hummingbird Original Torrefied Red Spruce acoustic-electric guitar is a striking expression of pure, vintage soul. A thermally aged red spruce top delivers broken-in resonance, quicker response and a dry, articulate character from the very first strum, paired with solid mahogany back and sides for the Hummingbird’s signature balance and midrange warmth. The square-shoulder dreadnought body and hand-scalloped X-bracing provide controlled projection and dynamic sensitivity, while a short-scale mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard offer a relaxed, expressive feel. Finished in Heritage Cherry Sunburst and equipped with LR Baggs Element VTC electronics, this Custom Shop Dealer Select model blends time-honored tone, stage-ready performance and classic Gibson style into a focused, limited-run expression of the Hummingbird legacy.

Torrefied Red Spruce and Mahogany for Warm, Balanced Projection

The tonal foundation of this Dealer Select Hummingbird begins with a thermally aged red spruce top, delivering an open, played-in response with enhanced warmth and dynamic control. Solid mahogany back and sides contribute a focused low end and strong midrange presence, shaping the sound into the balanced, vocal-friendly voice the Hummingbird is known for. Traditional hand-scalloped X-bracing allows the top to vibrate freely, increasing sustain and projection while maintaining clarity across the frequency range. The square-shoulder dreadnought body provides ample power without sacrificing articulation, making the guitar equally effective for strumming, flatpicking and fingerstyle work.

Short-Scale Mahogany Neck and Smooth Rosewood Fingerboard

A short 24.75" scale mahogany neck reinforces the Hummingbird’s relaxed, elastic string feel, encouraging expressive phrasing and effortless fretting. The rosewood fingerboard adds warmth and smoothness to the attack, while mother-of-pearl parallelogram inlays reflect classic Gibson styling. With a nut width of 1.725", the neck offers a familiar, accommodating platform that supports both chord work and melodic lead lines, staying true to the Hummingbird’s long-standing reputation for approachability.

LR Baggs Element VTC Electronics for Natural Amplified Sound

LR Baggs Element VTC electronics ensure the Hummingbird’s acoustic character translates faithfully in amplified settings. The undersaddle pickup captures the guitar’s natural warmth and balance, while the soundhole-mounted volume and tone controls allow for intuitive adjustments without disrupting the instrument’s vintage aesthetic. Whether plugged into a PA, acoustic amp or recording interface, the Element VTC preserves the organic response and dynamic nuance that define the Hummingbird voice.

Stage-Ready Hardware and Classic Hummingbird Appointments

Visually, this Dealer Select model stays rooted in tradition. Double antiqued binding frames the body, complementing the gloss nitro Heritage Cherry Sunburst finish. Gold Gotoh keystone tuners provide smooth, reliable tuning stability while adding a refined vintage touch. A traditional Hummingbird truss rod cover, tortoiseshell pickguard and bone nut and saddle complete the look, reinforcing the guitar’s historic identity while reflecting the elevated attention to detail expected from a Dealer Select release.
