beyerdynamic I DT 990 PRO X vs. DT 1990 PRO MKII
Description
The beyerdynamic DT 1990 PRO MKII open-back studio headphones are built for professional mixing, mastering and critical listening applications where precise playback accuracy and long-session comfort are essential. Designed around beyerdynamic’s latest TESLA.45 driver technology, the DT 1990 PRO MKII delivers high-resolution playback with controlled low-frequency extension, fast transient response and spacious stereo imaging for detailed evaluation of balance, depth and dynamics across modern productions. The newly refined tuning offers smoother high-frequency reproduction than the previous generation, helping reduce listening fatigue and supporting more confident mix decisions during extended studio workflows. With a 30-ohm impedance design, the DT 1990 PRO MKII also provides greater flexibility across studio interfaces, laptops and professional playback devices without sacrificing reference-grade performance. Made in Germany with durable metal construction, replaceable components and memory foam comfort features, the DT 1990 PRO MKII is engineered for dependable long-term studio use.
TESLA.45 Drivers With Reference Playback Precision
At the center of the DT 1990 PRO MKII is beyerdynamic’s redesigned TESLA.45 driver system, engineered to deliver detailed resolution, low distortion and precise signal reproduction across demanding studio applications. The 45mm drivers maintain articulate transient response and balanced frequency reproduction, helping engineers and producers identify subtle mix information, stereo positioning and dynamic changes throughout recording, editing and mastering sessions. Controlled low-end extension and refined high-frequency response also contribute to more accurate playback evaluation across dense arrangements and complex mixes without exaggerating critical listening details. The 30-ohm driver design further improves compatibility with a wider range of studio and mobile playback devices while preserving the clarity and headroom expected from a professional reference headphone.
Open-Back Design With Customizable Listening Response
The DT 1990 PRO MKII’s open-back design creates a spacious and natural soundstage that supports more accurate evaluation of ambience, panning and overall mix depth than many closed-back studio headphones. To further adapt the listening experience to different workflows, beyerdynamic includes two interchangeable velour ear pad sets with distinct sound signatures. The installed Producing Velours pads deliver a slightly fuller low-end response suited for production-focused listening, while the included Mastering Velours pads provide a more analytical presentation for detailed reference work. Combined with breathable circumaural construction, memory foam padding and a carefully balanced headband design, the headphones remain comfortable throughout extended studio sessions.
Professional Studio Headphones Built for Long-Term Reliability
The beyerdynamic DT 1990 PRO MKII open-back studio headphones combine reference-grade TESLA.45 driver performance, spacious open-back imaging and durable German-made construction in a professional monitoring tool built for modern studio production environments. Detachable mini-XLR cables, replaceable ear pads and serviceable components support long-term reliability across daily recording and mixing workflows, while the included straight and coiled cables provide flexibility for different studio setups. For engineers, producers and musicians who require precise playback accuracy, customizable monitoring response and dependable long-session comfort, the DT 1990 PRO MKII delivers a refined reference listening experience for professional studio work.
